Beans' Weekly Wrap: Week 3

How good is USC? Right now, they're the best team in the country. It's tough to envision anyone denying them a berth in the national title game, especially since every currently ranked opponent on their schedule will be traveling to the Coliseum... USC has now won its past eight games against Big Ten competition, all by double-digits and by an average of 24.9 points... The only bright side for Ohio State is that Freshman QB Terrelle Prior is going to be the real deal... Outside of USC, the Pac-10 was terrible this week, going 0-4 against Mountain West competition... BYU 59 - UCLA 0. Wonder how Phil Fulmer feels about that score... From the same game comes our "Inexplicable Coaching Decision of the Week": down by 59 points late in the 4th quarter UCLA attempted a field goal from the BYU 10 yard line -- and missed. You don't deserve to make a field goal when you're down by 59... Missouri QB Chase Daniel has thrown more touchdowns (seven) than incompletions (six) in his past two games -- that's insane... The Big XII is putting up wild offensive numbers and the league as a whole is closing the gap on the SEC... Speaking of the SEC, the conference made a bit of history this week as its schools occupied half of the AP Top 10... The SEC is so good that every week looks like a huge week, this week: Florida-Tennessee, LSU-Auburn, Alabama-Arkansas... We're still waiting on Georgia to have a really impressive win, which makes Arizona State's upset loss to UNLV that much more disappointing... By losing to Georgia, South Carolina kept the CBS curse alive -- the Gamecocks have never won a game televised by CBS... Auburn won 3-2, in football... Duke is getting better... Rutgers is not... East Carolina isn't going undefeated... Fresno State missed opportunity after opportunity Saturday night in what would have been a statement game...
